FEATURED PROJECT
South Dublin Home
Motorised Wave Curtains
For this contemporary South Dublin home, the window treatment needed to do more than provide privacy. With expansive curved glazing and uninterrupted coastal views, the solution had to feel refined, discreet and completely in keeping with the architecture.

South Dublin, Ireland
The Brief
The main challenge was the scale and shape of the glazing.
The homeowners wanted to retain as much natural light as possible during the day while introducing privacy and softness when required. At the same time, the curtain system needed to follow the curved window line cleanly without appearing heavy or intrusive.
A traditional curtain setup would not have delivered the same level of control or finish. Therefore, a bespoke motorised wave curtain system was specified for the space.
A Bespoke Motorised Curtain Solution
The wave heading creates a consistent, flowing appearance across the full width of the windows.
Rather than gathering unevenly, the fabric falls in a controlled series of soft folds. This gives the curtains a clean architectural look that works particularly well with large areas of glazing.
The track system was tailored to follow the shape of the room, allowing the curtains to move smoothly around the curved window line.
Once installed, the mechanism remains discreet. Attention stays on the fabric, the view and the overall interior.
Key Features
Whisper-Quiet Operation
Quiet performance was especially important in a living space of this scale.
The motorised system allows the curtains to open and close smoothly with minimal noise. This means the homeowners can adjust the room without interrupting conversation, television or the calm atmosphere of the space.
The movement is controlled and consistent from one end of the track to the other.
Smart Home Integration
The motorised wave curtains can also form part of a wider smart home setup. Depending on the system selected, the curtains can be operated by remote control, wall switch, app or smart home automation.
Schedules can also be created around the homeowners’ routine. For example, the curtains can open automatically in the morning and close in the evening for greater privacy.
Designed Around the View
One of the most important elements of this project was preserving the connection with the outside. When fully open, the curtains stack neatly to the sides of the glazing, leaving the main view largely uninterrupted.
When closed, the sheer fabric filters daylight rather than blocking it completely. This creates a softer atmosphere while still allowing light to move through the room. The result is a window treatment that changes the feel of the space without dominating it.
One of the most important elements of this project was ensuring the system could perform reliably every day. The motorised curtain system was carefully specified and installed to provide smooth, consistent movement across the full width of the glazing.
Each component was selected with long-term performance in mind, from the concealed track to the motor and control system. This helps minimise noise, reduce strain on the mechanism and ensure dependable operation.

The Finished Result
The completed installation creates a much softer transition between the interior and the expansive glazing.
During the day, the curtains can remain open to maximise the coastal outlook. When additional privacy or light control is needed, they glide smoothly into position.
The wave format gives the fabric a consistent, contemporary finish, while the motorised track removes the need to manually handle such a large curtain span.
It is a simple solution visually, but one that required careful measurement, specification and installation.
